Laser Scanning
Laser Scanning is a highly accurate non contact digital technology that captures the 3D geometry of a physical object using LIDAR

Professional Services
Sun Hill uses terrestrial laser scanners to collect highly accurate 3D measurements at high speed
Experienced Surveyors
Our surveyors are experienced in Laser Scanning in a variety of environments ranging from urban to rural, beside waterways and below ground in confined space.
High Speed Data Collection
Laser Scanning allows our surveyors to collect huge amounts of highly accurate survey measurements in much less time than traditional topographical surveying.
Reduced Risk
The reduced time on site combined with the non contact nature of LIDAR ensures that the risk to our surveyors is reduced through the use of laser scanning.
Multiple Output Options
Our outputs are specifically tailored to your needs and can range from traditional 3D CAD drawings to 3D point clouds and photographs.
Sun Hill also provides online Web Services which enable point clouds to be viewed and analysed remotely through a web browser - Learn more
Case Study
Monkbretton Bridge | East Sussex
Sun Hill was tasked to undertake a laser scanning survey of Monkbretton road bridge in East Sussex. This required access to the river bank and to the underside of the bridge.
The aim of the surveys was to laser scan the whole structure and produce a 3D point cloud model of the bridge. A topographical survey of the road and elevations of the bridge were then extracted from the point cloud.
This methodology allowed our surveyors to collect high resolution point clouds from the safety of the river bank for the whole span of the bridge and to reduce the amount of time on site.
